Among the best things to have happened to car and bike enthusiasts in India is the arrival of self-drive services which rent out cars and bikes for you to zip around. Some of the service providers went on to offer premium vehicles as well which made it all the more sweet for the enthusiasts. Now you can rent out a Harley Davidson or a Merc GLA and get a feel of how the vehicle drives in a more convenient manner without having to savor or judge it in a span of 15 mins. Those 15 mins being the average time of a dealer-provided test drive. Anyway, renting a supercar in India is still a long shot. It’s relatively easy to take one out for a spin for a day or two in places like London, USA and Dubai. But India? Not really.
Delhi-based ECO Rent-a-Car has come up with a plan that will let anyone with a valid driver’s license and some cash to spare, rent an Audi R8. They have inducted the 5.2 V10 Plus version of the supercar into their fleet recently. That comes with a 5.2 liter V10 petrol engine that produces 549bhp. With a top speed of 320kph and the capability to hit 100kph in 3.5 seconds, the all-wheel drive R8 is quite the road runner when released from the cage. ECO Rent-a-Car will charge you Rs. 5000 for the experience. Now the details of the package, where the devil is. That’s the hourly rate. And you can drive the car for 10kms for that amount. Every additional kilometer will add Rs. 300 to the bill. ECO Rent-a-Car will also block 2 lakh rupees on your credit card for the duration of the drive.
You can’t blame them for being cautious. It’s a Rs. 2.32 Crore supercar that they are letting you drive around. We’d say it’s quite a good deal. But then again, you can choose to fly to London and experience the same on a racetrack as well.
